I really appreciated this conversation on a topic unfamiliar to me - It made more sense after I googled "Newtonian vs Quantum leadership" !
I needed to listen to the audio twice to absorb it more fully. The second time having discovered the video, I found the nature images stunning and your expressions in conversation compelling.
I appreciate your parents' wise choice, Dr. Short, to allow you to home-school, having learned myself all about shame and competition in public schools and then about arrogance at the college level. That schooling ill-equipped me to discover or create a workplace that would allow me to offer even a fraction of what I had to give. Or to experience a basic need we all share: *dignity.*
I'm only contributing at something like full capacity now in retirement, as a fulfilled citizen-neighbor and volunteer.
Also helpful was your discussion of 'threat perception' and how to be present, nonviolently with people who might experience their privilege being destabilized and react with hostility.
Thank you, Rayner, for this introduction to Dr Short (along with the additional resources and contacts) & congratulations on the launch of this timely podcast!
Dr. Short, I look forward to following and learning from you, too! Your story about how your mother enacts not accepting you by way of a *daily ritual* really resonated with me. I've beeno n the receiving end of that subtle pressure to change and now I'm challenged to not project that towards othes. As Rayner says, "loving without an agenda" even when "you may not like their stuff."
